Description
Abstract
This article is an analysis of the corpus of knowledge relating to medica! care in schools, based on the work of its most significant exponent. It traces the development of this subject from the second half of the nineteenth century when it took on institutional status, to the rise of the republic. The article identifies and puts into perspective the attitudes expressed by doctors, teachers, psychologists, pediatricians and other child specialists over the course of this period. It also explores other indicators of its institutional status such as congresses held, scientific societies and scientific journals dealing with this subject. The study centres on the situation in Spain but makes reference to the international context in so far as it influenced the Spanish approach.
