Abstract
Los animales pueblan muchas páginas de relatos viajeros, de informes de naturalistas y desde luego, de ficciones en la literatura latinoamericana. En una época que busca cuestionar la concepción “humanista” heredada del Renacimiento, interesa relevar qué actitudes y qué usos de lo animal se presentan en la literatura hispanoparlante del siglo XXI. En este artículo lo haremos desde la óptica de una escritura vanguardista que se afianza en elementos primitivistas: nos referimos a la obra de Pablo Katchadjian, y en concreto a El caballo y el gaucho, serie de textos breves en los que se presentan escenarios de apariencia arcaica cercanos a la naturaleza y en diálogo con ella.
Abstract: Animals populate many pages of travel stories, naturalist reports, and, of course, fiction in Latin American literature. In an era that seeks to question the "humanist" conception inherited from the Renaissance, it is interesting to examine the attitudes and uses of animals that are present in 21st-century Spanish-language literature. In this article, we will do so from the perspective of avant-garde writing that is grounded in primitivist elements: we refer to the work of Pablo Katchadjian, and specifically to The Horse and the Gaucho, a series of short texts that present seemingly archaic settings close to — and in dialogue with — nature.
