Abstract
This article identifies the polemical dimension of Pierre Bourdieu’s rationalism as an epistemological dimension of his sociological work of objectification of works and practices. This dimension, besides inscribing him in a concrete position of the French intellectual field, gives him a habitus that is expressed at different moments of theoretical work and at different conjunctures of the sociological unveiling of domination. Restoring this polemical dimension helps to understand his relevance in the history of social theory and the strategic character of his concepts (their adaptation to the different scenarios of social domination and the symbolic economy which characterizes them).
