dc.description.abstract	En este trabajo se pretende hacer un recorrido histórico por los principales episodios epidémicos que asolaron el mundo antiguo desde el 5.000 a.C. hasta los inicios de la tardo-antigüedad (siglo III d.C.). Centrando, especialmente, nuestro foco de atención en la conocida como «Peste de Cipriano»; una gran plaga, que devastó el Imperio romano entre los años 249 a 270, y de la que fue testigo fiel y directo de los hechos el obispo norteafricano y mártir Cipriano de Cartago.
dc.description.abstract	This paper aims to provide a historical overview of the main epidemic episodes that devastated the ancient world from 5000 BC to the beginning of the Late Antiquity (3rd century AD). Our focus is especially on the so-called «Cyprian Plague», a great plague, that devastated the Roman Empire between 249 and 270, and to which the North African bishop and martyr, Cyprian of Carthage, bore faithful and direct witness.
