Abstract
En este artículo abordamos la reconstrucción y descripción de cuatro lenguajes cifrados utilizados por diplomáticos de Carlos V para informar y plantear estrategias referentes a los conflictos originados por la muerte de Alessandro de’ Medici, duque de Florencia, el 6 de enero de 1537, desde la cuestión de los forajidos y la prisión y muerte de Filippo Strozzi, hasta la situación de Margarita de Parma y sus bienes en territorio toscano. Se aborda por una parte la reconstrucción de los cifrarios a partir de documentos manuscritos y, por otra, se describen y analizan estos con el objetivo de conocer su funcionamiento. Este estudio es necesario para poder avanzar en el conocimiento y el dimensionamiento del uso de los lenguajes cifrados en el siglo XVI.
Abstract: This paper deals with the reconstruction and description of four coded languages used by Charles V's diplomats to inform and strategize about the conflicts resulting from the death of Alessandro de' Medici, Duke of Florence, on January 6th 1537, covering from the matter of the outlaws and the imprisonment and death of Filippo Strozzi, to the situation of Margaret of Parma and her possessions in the Tuscan territory. Firstly, we describe the reconstruction of the cyphrariums from manuscript documents, and, secondly, these are analysed to better understand how they worked. This study is key to expand our knowledge and understanding of the use of code languages in the 16th century.
