Abstract
En 1337 los caballeros y los pecheros de la villa de Alcaraz, tras haber creado sendos cabildos a modo de grupos de presión, acordaron sellar un pacto para poner fin a sus diferencias en torno al poder municipal y a ciertas rentas. El pacto muestra un estado de crisis social derivada de los problemas arrastrados desde la conquista, agravados durante la minoría de Alfonso XI. Al estudiar el contexto en que tiene lugar el convenio, el artículo profundiza en la estructura de la sociedad de la tierra de Alcaraz, una villa alejada de otras áreas castellanas cuyos conflictos y cambios sociales e institucionales han sido mejor estudiados.
Résumé: En 1337, les chevaliers et les roturiers de la ville d’Alcaraz, après avoir créé leurs conseils municipaux comme groupes de pression, acceptèrent de sceller un pacte pour mettre fin à leurs rivalités concernant le pouvoir municipal et certains revenus. Le pacte révèle un état de crise sociale résultant des problèmes qui perdurent depuis la conquête et qui s’aggravent pendant la minorité d’Alphonse XI. En étudiant le contexte dans lequel l’accord a eu lieu, l’article approfondit la structure de la société dans la terre d’Alcaraz, une ville très éloignée des autres zones castillanes dont les conflits et les changements sociaux et institutionnels ont été mieux étudiés.
Abstract: In 1337 the knights and the commoners of the town of Alcaraz, after having created two separate councils as municipal pressure groups, agreed to seal a pact to put an end to their differences and rivalries regarding municipal power and certain rents. The pact shows a state of social crisis derived from the problems that had been dragging since the conquest of the region and aggravated during the minority of Alfonso XI. By studying the context in which the agreement takes place, this article delves into the knowledge of the structure of the society of the land of Alcaraz, a town far from other Castilian areas whose conflicts and social and institutional changes have been better studied.
