Description
Abstract
The present article faces the study of two unpublished drafts written by Ramón del Valle-Inclán – “Bradomín expone un juicio pesimista y paradójico de España” and “La Marquesa Carolina y Bradomín ”‒, aiming at showing the value of the episodic and fragmentary character in the process of genesis of the last and unfinished literary work of the writer: El Ruedo Ibérico. The analysis will be addressed from two inseparable and complementary perspectives (genetic and narratological) with the purpose of, on one hand, evaluating the writing strategies and compositional mechanisms of the author, and on the other hand, exploring the existing connections with the edited literary work and its planned continuation. Based on the exam of these two unpublished drafts which were paradigmatic of the modus operandi of Valle-Inclán, it is possible to confirm a recurrent praxis substantiated on the adaptability and on the mobility of the compositional elements of his writing.
