Abstract
Lefort afirma hacia el final de su análisis de El Príncipe en Le travail de l’œuvreMachiavel que Maquiavelo “esboza una nueva ontología”. La primera intención del presente texto será interrogar esta noción, intentando poner de manifiesto su relevancia para la lectura que hace Lefort de Maquiavelo, y con ello, para el desarrollo de la comprensión lefortiana de la política moderna. La segunda será ensayar una respuesta al interrogante acerca de la falta de tematización explícita de una cuestión a todas luces relevante. Sugeriremos que, de acuerdo con Lefort, el desarrollo y la elaboración de esta noción sólo puede ser abordada de manera indirecta, y que la superficie privilegiada sobre la cual Lefort realiza este trabajo es la imagen del poder tal como se presenta en la obra de Maquiavelo; esto es, en la figura del príncipe en el libro homónimo, y en la imagen de la Roma republicana en los Discursos.
Lefort states towards the end of his analysis of The Prince in Le travail de l’œuvreMachiavel that Machiavelli “outlines a new ontol-ogy”. The first intention of the present text will be to interrogate this notion, trying to highlight its relevance for Lefort’s reading of Machiavelli, and for the development of the lefortian understand-ing of modern politics. The second will be to try to answer the question about the lack of explicit thematization of this clearly relevant issue. We will suggest that, according to Lefort, the devel-opment and elaboration of this notion can only be approached indirectly, and that the privileged sur-face on which Lefort does this work is the image of power as it is presented in Machiavelli’s work; that is, in the figure of the prince in the homony-mous book, and in the image of republican Rome in the Discourses.
