Abstract
Después de recordar algunas ideas clave de la concepción freiriana sobre la educación y algunos pasajes de la biografía freiriana, el autor desea dar a conocer el nacimiento del Instituto Paulo Freire en Sáo Paulo (Brasil). Su finalidad consiste en difundir la obra de Paulo Freire por todo el mundo a través de fundaciones similares a las del Instituto, donde se organicen publicaciones, investigaciones y actividades que potencien y actualicen el legado freiriano. Se resalta la necesidad de elevar el coeficiente de ciudadanía en una época atacada por la globalización de los mercados y por un neoliberalismo que superpone la productividad económica a la dignidad de la persona humana. Este sería el actual reto del Instituto Paulo Freire. Se añaden las conclusiones del encuentro internacional del Foro P. Freire, celebrado en Sáo Paulo del 28 al 30 de abril de 1998, refrendadas por más de 200 asistentes, en representación de 21 países
After remembering some key ideas of the Freirian conception about Education as well as some Freirian biographical passages, the writer wishes to let us know the creation of Instituto Paulo Freire in Sao Paolo (Brazil). Its aim is to spread Paulo Freire's work all over the world, through foundations, similar to Instituto paulo Freire, where publications, research and activities can take place in order to strengthen and update Freire's request. The need of raising citizenship's coefficient is highlighted in an age attacked by the worldwide markets and by neoliberalism, which places in front productivity to human being's dignity. That would be the current challenge to Institute Paulo Freire. In addition to that, Paulo Freire Forum International Meeting conclusions are given. These conclusions were endorsed by 200 people present, from 21 countries, attending the meeting held in Sao Paolo from 28 to 30 April 1998.
