Description
Abstract
nica y universal.
In this article I analyze the political and cultu- ral thought of Mariano Picón Salas taking into account his essays published in Chile between 1923 and 1935. In this long decade Chile was su- ffering a huge political and social transformation and this situation made the young writer reflect on the paths that the southern country should fo- llow. This line of thought led to a reflection about the cultural identity of Latin America that gave birth to many of the ideas present in his mature writings, such as the quest for social consensus and the longing for a universal and harmonious culture.
