Description
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to show the influence of Hippocratic medicine on three medical practices: purging, bleeding and cauterizing. The study of the Hippocratic corpus allow us to ascertain the influence of this practices in Greek literature. In spite of the reluctance and criticism it received, this praxis w as consolidated as a symbol of pragmatic medicine.
