Abstract
El viaje es una de las obsesiones de André Gide, tanto existencial como temática. Satisface su anhelo de libertad, su búsqueda de lo inesperado, su fascinación por la extrañeza del exotismo, su inclinación hacia el desarraigo como forma de rebeldía y de ruptura con el mundo conocido, sus aspiraciones a un estado de plena disponibilidad. Si bien, también se presenta como algo incierto, pues puede acabar haciendo de él un ser volátil. La experiencia viática que nos narra en su Voyage au Congo se hace eco de estas inquietudes propias de un alma compleja, las cuales irradian a la percepción ensoñadora de la naturaleza africana ecuatorial, más especialmente de la sabana y de la selva, de forma que configuran un paisaje subjetivado por el yo profundo del observador.
Abstract: Travel is one of André Gide’s obsessions, both existential and thematic. It satisfies his longing for freedom, his search for the unexpected, his fascination for the strangeness of exoticism, his inclination towards uprootedness as a form of rebellion and a break with the known world, his aspirations to a state of full availability. However, it is also presented as something uncertain, as it can also make him a volatile being. The travelling experience narrated in his Voyage au Congoechoes these concerns of a complex soul, which radiate in the dreamy perception of equatorial African nature, especially the savannah and the jungle, in such a way as to configure a landscape subjectivised by the profound self of the observer.
