Description
Abstract
Emilio Rotondo.
e San Isidro. Hay documentación
referente a auténticas falsifi
The falsifications had not been always made with the idea of fraud, gener ally it was the desire of emulation or to obtain copies what moved people to im itate the original objects. In the museums of Madrid Municipality there are several examples of co pies from the Prehistory to the roman times. There are also fraud copies of plaque idols, p ottery and fi bles sold to Emilio Rotondo, a collector of the XIX century. There are also pieces with excessive reintegrations where the objects are not completely false but have been change d in such a great part that they have been despair. That is the case of the Lorant collection ho used in the San Isidro museum. There are also documentation related to real falsifi cations of Visigoth jewels that were sold in Germany and that the Ahnenerbe members were interested by th em. On the contrary it has happened that when cleaning a picture considered false in the H istoric Museum of Madrid it appeared a wonderful one of Lucca Giordano.
