Description
Abstract
Abstract. In this paper we address a philosophical articulation about language, tied to a broad reflection on the human knowledge and Cassirer links as a fundamental principle of his immense work Philosophy of symbolic forms. Retrieving the great study on the origin of languages brought by Humboldt in the early nineteenth century, Cassirer proposes an analysis of language that goes beyond the concept of «use», focusing on the structural field of «spiritual morphology» of languages, indicative of the sense of the world, the peculiarities of human culture and the relationship with mythical thinking.
