Abstract
Vivir en una sociedad democrática
como la nuestra, caracterizada por una creciente
presencia de personas pertenecientes a
otras culturas, etnias o ideologías, supone aceptar
ABSfRACT: We live in a democratic society which is characterized by an increasing presence of people from other cultures, ethnic groups and ideologies. It is presumed that the difference these people bring to our society should be seen as elements of value and enrichment of our culture, especially since this is in accordance with the democratic way of thinking. At the moment however a resurgance of racism and xenophobia has become evident in Spanish society. In this paper we present a model of lntercultural Education as a answer to the problems which arise in a multicultural society, and in which we reflect on the need to introduce it into the educational system. The development of this model can be carried out within a school curriculum, which will allow students to accept and value pluralism.
