Abstract
El presente artículo intenta avanzar en el conocimiento del grado de integración de la cultura hispana
en la Europa medieval. Desde este horizonte ha sido estudiado el inventario de libros de la Catedral de
Sigüenza elaborado en 1339 con el propósito de reconstruir su biblioteca y acercarnos a las inquietudes
culturales de los canónigos seguntinos de los siglos XII al XIV. El contenido de sus fondos presenta
rasgos que la diferencian de otras bibliotecas hispanas y la convierten en un testimonio excepcional
de la cultura castellana de los siglos XII y XIII. Los ideales humanistas que triunfarán en la Baja
Edad Media se atisban en la biblioteca de la Catedral de Sigüenza.
This article attempts to make progress in the knowledge of the level of assimilation of Hispanic culture in Medieval Europe. From this perspective it has been studied the inventory of Sigüenza Cathedral Library –elaborated in 1339– for the purpose of reconstructing its library and approaching us to the cultural interests of the canons of Sigüenza from the 12th to the 14th centuries. The content of said library collection, due to some particular features that distinguishes it from other Hispanic libraries, offers a unique testimony of the Castilian culture of the 12th and 13th centuries. The humanistic ideals that would prevail in the late Middle Ages can be glimpsed in the Sigüenza Cathedral library.
Cet article se propose de mieux cerner le degré d’intégration de la culture hispanique dans l’Europe médiévale. Dans ce but, on a procédé à l’étude de l’inventaire des livres de la cathédrale de Sigüenza établi en 1339, dans le but de mieux connaître des inquiétudes culturelles de ses chanoines du XIIe au XIVe siècle. Le contenu de ce fonds tranche avec d’autres bibliothèques de l’époque en Espagne, ce qui en fait un témoin exceptionnel de la culture castillane de la période concernée. Les idéaux humanistes qui triompheront au Bas Moyen Âge y sont déjà perceptibles.
