Abstract
El trabajador social ha encontrado un espacio para su desempeño en el contexto educativo, sin embargo en ocasiones el rol que desempeña no se encuentra alineado con la profesión. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo identificar el rol del trabajador social en el camino hacia la transformación educativa en Ecuador. Para ello se ha empleado el método cuantitativo no experimental de corte descriptivo. Para ello se aplicó un cuestionario conformado por 9 ítems acompañados de una escala tipo Likert. Posterior a ello se validó el
instrumento a través de un pilotaje y la prueba de consistencia con valor p=.847. Se aplicó el cuestionario a 115 profesionales de trabajo social a nivel nacional, trabajadores de entidades educativas de nivel básico, técnico o universitario del sector público y privado. Los resultados permitieron concluir que los trabajadores sociales de entidades públicas y privadas presentan limitaciones en el ejercicio de sus funciones, sin embargo, consideran que tienen potenciales áreas de intervención donde pueden ejecutar proyectos a favor de la comunidad educativa.
The social worker has found a space for his performance in the educational context, however sometimes the role he plays is not aligned with the profession. The objective of this research is to identify the role of the social worker on the path towards educational transformation in Ecuador.
