Abstract
La formación permanente del profesorado es fundamental para una educación de calidad. Es una exigencia ante los cambios socioculturales. Es un camino para valorar el status del docente. Es un medio de prevención o tratamiento del malestar docente. El profesor es un profesional, especialista en el proceso enseñanza-aprendizaje. Es un agente innovador y crítico, y no mero ejecutor del curriculum impuesto. Es un investigador en el aula. Entre el sistema de formación inicial y el de formación permanente debe existir una estrecha conexión, para aprovechar eficazmente los recursos disponibles.
In-service teaching is basic for a high-quality education, demanded by current social and cultural changes. It is a valued tool to assess the teacher's status as well as to prevent or, otherwise, to remedy teaching strain. A teacher is a professional expert in the teaching-learning process as well as an innovating and critical agent, not just as a mere executive of the official curriculum. He is a class-room investigator. A close relationship between pre-service and in-service systems is required to make the available resources most profitable.
