Abstract
El artículo trata el origen y repercusión de la saeta en las procesiones de la Semana Santa
de Cartagena desde finales del siglo XIX. Describe cómo se interpretaba en la calle, expone el testimonio
de Antonio Piñana y refiere las iniciativas de particulares o de las cofradías para su conservación.
Asimismo, aporta el testimonio del musicólogo Hipólito Rossy, trata la vinculación del cantaor
Manuel Centeno con Cartagena y su muerte en esta ciudad.
The article discusses the origin and impact of the «saeta» in the Holy Week processions inCartagena since the late twentieth century. It refers how the Holy Week was interpreted in the cityand shows the testimony of Antonio Piñana. Initiatives of individuals or brotherhoods for its conser-vation are shown. It also provides the testimony of the musicologist HipólitoRossy, deals with therelationship with the «cantaor» Manuel Centeno with Cartagena and his death in this city.
