Description
Abstract
embargo, siguen existiendo numerosas
2 It is undeniable that, although Contemporary Arab Literature has not been amongst the preferred topics in Spanish Arabism studies , that trend has recently started to c hange, so we can find nowadays that part of the Arab literary production is available. Nonetheless, there are still many trends and manifestations barely studied, and they deserve their right place in the contemporary arab cultural scene . Surrealism is one of these trends, since it found its echo in the Arab World as well as in the rest of the world, and therefore this article intends to approach one of its main characters, Abdul Kader El Janabi, and the artistic group that harboured his activities: Le Dési r Libertaire. Its activities, idiosyncrasy, peculiarities and artistic production are the aim of this article’ s analysis, which intention is to shed light on this avant - garde movement still considerably unknown. The reflections issued from this analysis wi ll be a useful tool in order to clarify the difficult relationship that Le Désir Libertaire, and particularly Abdul Kader El Janabi, had with the Arab people, the natural audience of their artistic and literary production
