Description
Abstract
In this article we address the situation of –x- and –e- as new inclusive gender morphemes of the Spanish language which are strongly emerging in recent times. We compare so much their origins as the range of population which uses them and the aim pursued by using them to those of the other previous alternatives to generic male such us the splittings. Furthermore, we deepen in the possible causes which have motivated the little attention paid to them at present from the academic world. In order to fill this gap, we make a historical review of the main approaches to the study of this new alternatives to generic male performed from the academic world. Our purpose is that this bibliographic outline can help those researchers that in the future intend to work in these new alternatives to generic male to get their bearings in the huge existing literature on the issues of linguistic sexism and inclusive language in general.
