Abstract
Durante la guerra civil española, se desarrollaron
en la zona republicana dos espacios de produc-
ción literaria claramente diferenciados, en el
frente y en la retaguardia, que se correspondían
con unas circunstancias muy distintas de escritu-
ra y comunicación. Este artículo pretende ofrecer
una nueva perspectiva sobre la poesía de guerra,
partiendo de la distinción entre “culturas de sig-
nificado” y “culturas de presencia” propuesta por
Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, y que llama la atención
sobre un cambio de paradigma en la concepción
del signo, ocurrida en los años precedentes. La
poesía del frente, mucho más innovadora en este
sentido, se integra dentro de una cultura de la pre-
sencia que tiene como rasgos definitorios la cen-
tralidad del cuerpo, la integración del hombre en
la naturaleza y una definición profética del oficio
de poeta, mientras que la poesía escrita en la reta-
guardia buscaba extraer el significado ‘profundo’
de la contienda bélica.
This paper analyses the main traits of the poetry written during the Civil War in the front of the Republican Spain, clearly differentiated of the “rearguard literature”. Based on the concept of “presence” coined by Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, we offer a new perspective over the war poetry, paying attention to a paradigm change in the sign conception, implemented along the precedent years. The war poetry fits in a “presence culture”, which has as special features the body’s centra- lity, integration of man in nature, and a prophetic definition of the poet. Meanwhile, the rearguard poets kept on searching the ‘deep’meaning of the war.
