Abstract
Esta nota crítica de Los pocos y los mejores, la última obra de José Luis Moreno Pestaña, repasa la definición de fetichismo político ofrecida por el autor, así como su crítica a las degeneraciones aristocráticas hacia las que tienden los regímenes representativos. La caracterización del fetichismo como un pensamiento clausurado a la organización alternativa del presente permite interpretar la preferencia exclusiva de las democracias occidentales por la elección, en detrimento de otros procedimientos democráticos conocidos y empleados a lo largo de la historia, como un síntoma de falta de imaginación política especialmente intenso en nuestros tiempos.
This critical note on Los pocos y los mejores, the latest work by José Luis Moreno Pestaña, examines the author’s definition of political fetishism and his criticism of the aristocratic degeneration towards which representative regimes tend. The characterisation of fetishism as a thought closed to alternative organisation of the present allows us to interpret the exclusive preference of Western democracies for elections, to the detriment of other democratic procedures known and used throughout history, as a symptom of a lack of political imagination that is particularly intense in our time.
