Abstract
En la película de animación dirigida por Ángel de la Cruz y Manolo Gómez El sueño
de una noche de San Juan, pensada, sobre todo, para ser vista por el público infantil, se
utilizan personajes y elementos argumentales de la producción dramatúrgica de William
Shakespeare (especialmente de El sueño de una noche de verano) en una historia de la
que se desprende una crítica a la sociedad de consumo y a las nefastas consecuencias
que puede llegar a tener una actitud negligente por parte de un gobernante. En este
estudio, desarrollaremos estas ideas y analizaremos algunos de los recursos de los que
se ha servido el largometraje para mostrar su interpretación de los textos shakesperianos,
como el tratamiento de los espacios naturales o la inclusión de un villano
The animated film directed by Ángel de la Cruz and Manolo Gómez A Saint John’s Night’s Dream, especially targeted to an audience of children, uses characters and elements from William Shakespeare’s drama Works (especially A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream) in a story where we can find criticism towards a consumer society and the awful consequences of the negligent behaviour of a ruler. In this essay, we shall develop these ideas and analyze some of the resources used in the film to show its own interpretation of Shakespearian texts, as well as the portrayal of natural spaces and the inclusion of a villain.
