Abstract
En el contexto de la Guerra Fría, determinados libros formaron parte del debate y la confrontación de ideas. Esto llevó a que el bloque comunista y capitalista, lanzarán una cruzada para censurar libros que consideraban o que podían contaminar la mente de sus ciudadanos. La intención de este artículo es examinar el papel que tuvo el personal bibliotecario, así como las bibliotecas públicas y escolares en los Estados Unidos en el desarrollo de la censura de libros durante la década de los años 60. Por último, se muestra cómo las bibliotecas públicas estadounidenses fueron el escenario de las protestas por los derechos civiles en Estados Unidos.
In the context of the Cold War, certain books were part of the debate and confrontation of ideas. This led the communist and capitalist bloc to launch a crusade to censor books that they considered or that could contaminate the minds of their citizens. The intention of this article is to examine the role that library personnel as well as public and school libraries in the United States played in the development of book censorship during the 1960s. Finally, it shows how American public libraries were the scene of civil rights protests in the United States.
