Abstract
Este artículo analiza el surgimiento de una filosofía del cuidado de sí entendida dentro de un marco terapéutico neoliberal. Se centra, en particular, en la producción cultural sobre estoicismo que triunfa en el panorama cultural. Esta recuperación del estoicismo obedece, como veremos, a prácticas de individualización del sufrimiento en el marco del neoliberalismo. Se atiende, así, al origen histórico y socio-cultural del discurso de la auto-ayuda que terminará constituyendo lo que entendemos como una nueva stoa.
This article analyzes the emergence of the philosophy of self-care understood within a neoliberal therapeutic framework. It primarily focuses on modern research grounded on stoicism, which has flourished on the cultural scene as a sign of individuality. The rationale for such popularity within neoliberalism is due to the practices of individuals when experiencing pain. Therefore, the historical and socio-cultural origin of the self-care discourse is addressed, which will constitute what has been refered to as a new stoa.
