Description
Abstract
The migratory process that brought thousands of Canarians to Venezuela (1936-1980) did not completely break the ties of this community with their territory of origin. With the stabilization of Democracy in Spain and Autonomy in the archipelago, Canarians living in Latin America demanded their rights as citizens. The role of this community in its territory of origin will be analyzed in the following lines, emphasizing its participation in the political dynamics of the Canary Islands, and its ability to modify it, as well as the role that many members of said community played within the organic structure of the main political parties of the islands. To do this, a multitude of different historical sources will be addressed that will try to provide a clear and clear message about the level of influence of this community in the political reality of the Canary Islands.
