Abstract
En este artículo se pretende definir la investigación en sentido amplio y el concepto de sistema de Investigación, Desarrollo e Innovación (I+D+I), con la exposición de los principales indicadores y los sistemas de clasificación, así como las características principales, el ciclo de la producción y las vías para examinar la documentación científica y tecnológica con sus características más significativas y el papel que pueden jugar los documentalistas en todo este proceso.
ABSTRACT: In this article we try to define the research in a broad sense and the con-cept of Research System, Development and Innovation (R+D+I), with the explana-tion of the main indicators, the classification systems, also the main characteristics, the production cycle, and the track to examine the scientific and technological documents, their main characteristics and the role that the information professional could develop in this process.
