dc.description.abstractThe necropolis of Villaricos is the biggest Phoenician cemetery in the Iberian Peninsula, with burials, cremations and large structures such as hypogea. Through the study of its material rests a huge quantity of information about the interests and life of the Levantine settlers who founded and lived in the city of Baria between the 7th and 3rd centuries B.C., which is associated with the necropolis, can be inferred. Among the main vestiges of this site stand ostrich eggs, very numerous in this case, and with a huge symbolic component, archaeofaunistic rests, mainly birdlife, statuettes, steles, pieces of goldsmith, weapons and ceramics, which allow us to understand a fundamental necropolis for the comprehension of the Phoenician presence in the extreme West in its funerary scope.
dc.description.abstractLa necrópolis de Villaricos es el cementerio fenicio de mayor tamaño de la Península ibérica, contando con inhumaciones, cremaciones y grandes estructuras como hipogeos. A través del estudio de sus restos materiales se puede inferir una gran cantidad de información acerca de los intereses y vida de los pobladores levantinos que fundaron y vivieron en la ciudad de Baria entre los siglos VII al III a.C., a la que se asocia la necrópolis. Entre los principales vestigios de este yacimiento resaltan los huevos de avestruz, muy numerosos en este caso, y con un gran contenido simbólico, restos arqueofaunísticos, principalmente avifauna, estatuillas, estelas, piezas de orfebrería, armas y cerámicas, que permiten comprender una necrópolis fundamental para entender la presencia fenicia en el extremo Occidente en su ámbito funerario.
