Abstract
En el marco de la adopción de una visión amplia del patrimonio y del reconocimiento del patrimonio rural como recurso turístico y motor de desarrollo sostenible se ha asistido a una progresiva concienciación del valor patrimonial de las infraestructuras territoriales de carácter histórico que vertebran el campo y la montaña. Tras comprobar la consideración institucional y normativa de estos principios, desde una pluralidad de escalas y enfoques, este trabajo se centra en analizar y valorar el cambio de funcionalidad y, más concretamente, la reutilización turística de vías férreas, vías pecuarias y caminos históricos, a partir de algunas experiencias significativas desarrolladas en el País Vasco y en Navarra.
ABSTRACT: Within the framework of adopting a broad view of heritage and recognition of rural heritage as a tourism resource and driving force behind sustainable development, there has been a growing awareness concerning the patrimonial value of historical territorial infrastructures that provide a backbone to the countryside and mountains. After having verified the institutional and regulatory position of these principles from a multitude of scales and approaches, this paper focuses on analysing and assessing the change in functionality and, more specifically, the re-use, in terms of tourism, of permanent ways, cattle trails and historical routes, based on certain significant experiences in the Basque Country and Navarre.
