Abstract
La Sociedad Propagandista del Clima de Málaga (1896) tiene
el honor de ser el primer organismo turístico de Málaga, y
posiblemente de toda España. Categóricamente, se constituye como
un Sindicato de Iniciativa turística, dirigido por el ex–alcalde de
Málaga, Francisco Prieto Mera, quién presentó ante las Cortes el
proyecto de ley para la creación de unas Juntas para el Fomento del
Turismo (1905). Este artículo profundiza en la figura del pionero y
de las actividades que llevó a cabo su efímera sociedad, centradas
en la promoción del clima y la organización de festejos. Para la
obtención de los resultados, se realiza una revisión bibliográfica de
las noticias del diario La Unión Mercantil (1886 -1936), periódico
decimonónico de referencia en la ciudad de Málaga. A partir de los
textos publicados entre 1886 y 1897, se establece una línea de
precedentes a la Sociedad Propagandista del Clima y
Embellecimiento de Málaga (1897-¿).
ABSTRACT: The Sociedad Propagandista del Clima de Málaga (1896) has the honor of being the first tourist agency of Málaga, and possibly all Spain. It is essentially a Sindicato de Iniciativa, led by the former mayor of Málaga, Francisco Prieto Mera, who proposed the creation of the Juntas para el Fomento del Turismo in 1905. This article explores the figure of this pio neer and the ephemeral society´s activities; it is focused on promoting climate and organization of festivities. We makes a bibliographic review of the newspaper La Unión Mercantil (1886 -1936), nineteenth-century reference newspaper in the city of Malaga, to obtain the results. From the texts published between 1886 and 1897, a line of precedents is established after the Propagandist Society of Climate and Embellishment of Málaga´s activities (1897 -¿).
