Abstract
Reflexión en torno a los conceptos antagónicos existentes entre el profesional
de la información y la comunidad, como la exclusión social y la explosión
bibliográfica; la producción de información y la producción de conocimiento; el
impacto social de las bibliotecas públicas; el papel del profesional de la información
en una sociedad en desarrollo; el hábito de lectura; la formación de lectores
críticos; el papel de la biblioteca pública en la sociedad de la información.
ABSTRACT: This paper is an insight into the antagonist concepts which lie between the information professional and the community, as are social exclusion and bibliographical explosion; information and knowledge production; the social impact of public libraries; the role of the information specialist in a developing society; reading habits; critical reading education; and the role of public libraries in an information society.
