Abstract
De entre las muchas acuñaciones que la ciudad de Carteia emitió, sobresale un tipo de reverso con una tipolo gía muy interesante e inusual por aquel entonces. Se trata de la moneda del pescador, cuya importancia radica no solo en la peculiaridad del modelo representado, sino también en la conexión que podemos observar con la temática marina y pesquera, y con la p ropia economía de la ciudad en consecuencia. Debemos tener en cuenta diversos factores económicos para llevar a cabo el adecuado estudio iconográfico de dicha moneda, aunque lo fundamental es comprender la arraigada conexión de Carteia con el mar, lo que h izo posible esta característica acuñación.
Among the many mintings that the city of Carteia struck, a type of reverse stands out with a very interesting and unusual typology back then; it is about the fisherman ́s coin, whose importance lies not only in the peculiarity of the depicted model, but in the connection that we can observe with marine and fishing thematic, and thus, with the economy of the city. For t he suitable iconographic study of this coin we should take into account several economic factors, although the essential thing is to understand the Carteia rooted connection with the sea, what made possible this unique minting
