Abstract
La importancia de los descubrimientos arqueopaleontológicos realizados en la Sierra de Atapuerca ha aportado un recurso de extraordinario valor a las potencialidades turísticas de la ciudad de Burgos y del entorno próximo a las excavaciones. A medida que las investigaciones científicas han puesto en evidencia la excepcionalidad de los hallazgos, los órganos de decisión pública, a partir de la iniciativa impulsada en principio desde el poder local, han acometido un ambicioso plan encaminado al conocimiento y valorización del legado prehistórico que se ha traducido en una red integrada de instalaciones con fuerte incidencia en el desarrollo turístico del área y en la reestructuración del espacio urbano afectado.
ABSTRACT: The importance of archaeopaleontological discoveries found in the «Sierra de Atapuerca» has provided a special resource to the tourist potential of the city of Burgos and of the environment near the excavations. When scientific research has demonstrated the uniqueness and value of findings, the public decision-making centers, from the initiative promoted by the local authority, have undertaken an ambitious plan for the knowledge and valorisation of the prehistoric legacy into an integrated network of equipments with a strong impact on the area’s tourism development and the restructuring of urban space affected.
