cerca del moderno
pueblo de Garmen, en la margen izquierda del río Mesta,

I study a new heavy mili arense issued by Aelia Eudocia in celebration of the wedding of her daughter Licinia with Valentinian III. The coin was found in Nicopolis ad Nestum , a ruined Roman town of the province of Thracia (Thrace) , near to the modern village of Garmen on the left bank of the Mesta river, in Bulgaria. The particular aim was to promote the image of the empress - mother in the western provinces. This determined the preference of large and heavy silver coins
