Description
Abstract
In this article is shown how Ovide acts, regarding the Vergilian episodes of Hippolytus and Aesculapius, as a complementary interpreter of the Mantuan poet. It contributes, as well in the Fasti as in the Metamorphoses, to the identification of the god of Epidaurus, completing and explaining all that in the Vergilian Hippolytus remained incomplete and obscure.
