Description
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to study whether Alessandro Piccolomi‐ ni’s dialogue La Raffaella ovvero della bella creanza delle donne (1539) could be thought a work of philogyny, consid‐ ering the elements related to the art of di/simulation applied to the most inti‐ mate sphere of women. The analysis is based on the sixteenth and seventeenth century treatises that deal completely or partially with this subject, and in particular with reference to women and on the current studies on this subject
