dc.description.abstract	La guerra civil española obligó a numerosos enfermos mentales a desplazarse, tal como está documentado en la historiografía. Las salas neuropsiquiátricas del Hospital Provincial de Madrid fueron insuficientes para cubrir las necesidades asistenciales de la ciudad, ya que este gran establecimiento (actual Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Reina Sofía) comenzó a recibir soldados desde el frente de guerra (Hospital Militar número 4). En diciembre de 1936, Bartolomé Llopis autorizó el traslado de 53 mujeres y 71 varones hacia el Manicomio de Alicante, sin embargo, 41 enfermas mentales no pudieron instalarse en dicha institución y viajaron hasta el Manicomio Provincial de Murcia. El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar ese grupo de enfermas, estudiando algunas de sus características demográficas (edad, estado civil) y diagnósticos, utilizando como fuentes las historias clínicas y otra documentación conservada en el Manicomio Provincial de Murcia desde 1936. Además, pretendemos recuperar los relatos de estas mujeres a su llegada al establecimiento que fueron trascritos por el personal de la institución en las historias clínicas y expresan sus sentimientos, frustraciones y peticiones, contribuyendo a realizar una “historia desde abajo”.
dc.description.abstract	During Spanish Civil War it was necessary to transfer many mentally ill patients. The neuropsychiatric wards of the Provincial Hospital of Madrid weren’t enough to fulfill healthcare needs , due to the reception of soldiers from the first line of battle (Military Hospital nº 4 and, now Contemporary Art Museum Reina Sofía). In december 1936, Bartolomé Llopis authorized to transfer 53 women and 71 men to the Asylum of Alicante, however, 41 women weren’t able to be located there and they travel led to the Asylum of Murcia. The aim of this paper is to analyze this group of women who were hospitalized in Murcia. The article explores their demographic characteristics (age, marital status) and diagnoses, using the medical records and other documentation kept at the Provincial Asylum of Murcia since 1936. In addition, we attempt to describe some aspects of their lives upon their arrival at the establishment . The method includes a review of the medical records where institution´s staff wrote their feelings, frustrations and requests , contributing to creat e a "history from below."
