Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Cosano Ramos, Arturo; Ruiz Trascastro, Rosa Raquel; Sin departamento asociadoIn this paper, we analyze the role of mediation in interventions with older adults experiencing loneliness, using the construction of Weberian ideal types, that is abstract theoretical models that Max Weber created to understand and compare social reality, as a practical tool for social workers. The main objective is to explore how mediation can enhance the effectiveness of social interventions when adapted to the specific characteristics of profiles such as Randolph, Theresa, Eleni, María, Procolo, and Jacqueline. Through a qualitative and theoretical approach, the most common conflicts faced by these individuals are identified, particularly those related to health, autonomy, and social context, as well as the institutional or personal barriers that hinder their participation in active and healthy aging programs. The main hypothesis posits that mediation functions as an effective tool to resolve these conflicts and to legitimize the voices of older adults in intervention processes. The findings show that adapting mediation strategies to the different ideal types not only improves adherence to social policies but also promotes a more human, personalized, and autonomy-respecting form of care.
