    This article describes the recent reform of the Brazilian Education system. ther will be an analysis of the contradictions and the ideas under discussion with reference to the function of University in the context of Brazilian higher education institutions. The author centres his attention on questions related to the education of teachers in general and goes into more detail on the problem of the education of Brazilian University Professors.
