    Las tutorías electrónicas en el horizonte de la formación virtual: un ejemplo desde la Filología Inglesa

    Among the many initiatives implemented by traditional, offline universities in adapting to virtual campuses and e-learning, it is perhaps student orientation and personalised electronic tutoring (through the Internet) the one that has received more attention lately. As more importance is attached to the student's autonomous work in the new teaching and learning scenarios, the need for technologically-assisted tutoring methods becomes patent. In this paper we aim at presenting the results of a case study in which we have analysed the use of virtual tutorials, comparing them with face-to-face ones during five complete academic years in three on-campus subjects belonging to the degree in English Philology at the University of Oviedo (Spain). The main goal of this paper is to contribute to determine the level of adaptation of university students to online instruction and virtual campuses, as well as to assess the inherent validity of virtual tutoring as a method for distance learning
