- PublicationOpen AccessEnhancing athletic performance and well-being: The role of RFID Technology in health monitoring and sports psychology(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Pekgor, Metin; Algin, Aydolu; Toros, Turhan; Serin, Emre; Tek, Tolga; Ergun, Selcan; Öztürk, Rabia Yıldız; Sin departamento asociadoThis study examined the integration of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology into sports psychology to enhance the monitoring and support of athletes' physical and mental performance. The review focused specifically on technologies used in sport performance and sport psychology contexts. Two groups of technologies were considered: 1) Wearable sensors. 2) RFID-based systems. Through the use of RFID-enabled wearable sensors, athletes can be tracked non-intrusively, providing real-time data on physiological markers such as heart rate, skin temperature, and muscle activity, as well as psychological indicators like stress levels and emotional states. RFID technology enables the collection of data without direct contact, offering new possibilities for understanding the complex interactions between physical exertion and mental resilience. By combining RFID with the Internet of Things (IoT), this approach allows for continuous performance monitoring and personalized feedback, thereby helping athletes optimize their training and recovery strategies. This paper highlights the potential of RFID in sports psychology, underscoring its capability to improve athlete well-being and performance through innovative monitoring and tailored interventions.
- PublicationOpen AccessHabilidades para la vida a través del deporte: evidencia de la influencia de los componentes del desarrollo positivo juvenil(Universidad de Murcia: servicio de publicaciones, 2025) Silva, Maynara P. P; Campos, Daniele; Peixoto,Evandro M; Sin departamento asociadoThe study investigated the relationship between two models of Positive Youth Development: 5C’s and skill transfer, in addition to analyzing the facilitating role of the 5C’s (competence, confidence, connection, caring and character). A total of 208 athletes participated (12-24 years; mean 19.1±2.67; 51.4% male), and a sample power analysis (G*Power, α = 0.005) ensured statistical robustness. Two analyses were performed: (1) Pearson Correlation, which revealed significant relationships (r = 0.27 to 0.60; p < 0.05); and (2) Structural Equation Modeling, indicating that competence (53%), confidence (54%), connection (62%), caring (27%) and character (45%) explained the variance in skill transfer. The integration of the models represents an advance in the application of positive development in sports, since both presented significant correlations, and the strengthening of the 5C’s is associated with an increase in the transfer of skills. The application of these models in sports programs can, therefore, favor adaptive results
- PublicationOpen AccessPropiedades psicométricas de la State Mindfulness Scale for Physical Activity 2 (SMS-PA2) en adultos brasileños(Universidad de Murcia: servicio de publicaciones, 2025) Peixoto, Evandro Morais; Cox, Anne Elizabeth; Romano, Amanda Rizzieri; Silva, Maynara Priscila Pereira; Palma, Bartira Pereira; Costa, Ariela Raissa Lima; Bonfá-Araujo, Bruno; Sin departamento asociadoThe main objective of this study was to estimate evidence of validity based on internal structure and internal consistency of the Brazilian version of the Mindfulness Scale for Physical Activity (SMS-PA2) in physical activity and sports practitioners. The sample included 231 participants aged between 18 and 72 years. Confirmatory factor analysis showed better fit for the bifactor model (CFI = .990, TLI = .987, RMSEA = .035), with adequate internal consistency indices. Validity evidence was also estimated based on relationships with other variables: positive affect, exercise satisfaction, and negative affect. The study concluded that the Brazilian version of SMS-PA2 is a valid measure, consistent with the original bifactor theoretical structure, supporting its use in assessing mindfulness in the context of physicalactivity, with relevant applications for both research and practice
