In this article we describe the desing, development and main results of a study about the consultancy activities of the Guidance Service Team (EOEP, Equipos de Orientación Educativa y Psicopedagógica) in schools (Hernández Rivero, 2004). This study, complementary of other one developed in the whole Canary Island Community (Hernández Rivero, 2002), was carried out in La Orotava VAlley district in the island of Tenerife. The participants were the two EOEP working in that area and a sample of teachers. The basic research questions had to do with what support functions and tasks are developed at schools, how are they carried out by the EOEP and how are they valued by the consultants, the schools and the teachers, which is teh dominant consultancy model, and how the consultants see themselves as professsionals.
