- PublicationOpen AccessAcademic and financial benefits for student-athletes at a Brazilian Federal University(Universidad de Murcia. It encompasses a set of diverse people, among them the student-athletes, who, in addition to undergoing the academic activities inherent to the formation, still face the workload of training and competitions. Policys have been developed with specialized assistance to provide better conditions to the public. The aim of this study was to investigate the granting of academic and financial benefits to student-athletes at a Brazilian Federal University. This was an exploratory documentary research, with the technique of document analysis applied to resolutions, service instructions, ordinances, and proclamations. The results indicated that the University has policys for dual careers, although they are limited to academic and sports initiatives. The policys is materialized through standard rules and granting absence allowances to student-athletes in competitions representing the University, a monthly sports scholarship (R$400.00) and financial aid for participation in competitions with an individual value of R$800.00. It is concluded that the institution promotes dual careers through policies, although this is restricted, imprecise, and limited in academic initiatives; partially adequate in sports initiatives, with urgent readjustments needed in the value of the scholarship and the creation of actions aimed at retirement preparation.
- PublicationOpen AccessAnalysing public debt in the Mexican states: Spatial convergence, regional drivers and policy recommendations(Wiley, 2023-08-21) Cifuentes Faura, Javier; Simionescu, Mihaela; Ciencia Política, Antropología Social y Hacienda Pública; Facultad de Economía y EmpresaConsidering that public debt is a priority for policymakers in Mexico, the aim of this paper is to examine the convergence or divergence in debt per capita and main drivers of debt in the 32 Mexican states in the period 2006-2021. The results support significant spatial correlation of debt/cap across states. Cross-section and spatial dynamic regressions are used to analyse absolute and conditional beta-convergence in debt per capita, and the divergence assumption is documented. The panel data models based on the method-of-moments quantile models and pooled mean group estimators indicate that poverty is the main determinant of debt, whereas foreign direct investment is insufficient to support the reduction in debt in the long run. These results provide evidence for a set of policy recommendations to ensure a sustainable debt path in Mexico.

- PublicationOpen AccessLa estacionalidad hídrica y el transporte terrestre : flujos del agua y sistema de comunicaciones en el oeste de Córdoba (1850-1930).(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones., 2024) Garnero, GabrielEntre los siglos XVI al XVIII valles y llanuras al oeste de las Sierras Centrales en Argentina oscilaron entre sus relaciones con Cuyo y la atracción de la ciudad de Córdoba. La cadena montañosa y sus numerosos ríos fueron un obstáculo orográfico significativo y colaboraron en dar una identidad distintiva a aquellas comunidades. En este estudio exploramos desde una perspectiva histórico ambiental cómo esta configuración establecida fue trastocada a fines del siglo XIX, en el marco de la consolidación estatal y reorientación atlántica de la economía Argentina. Así, analizamos de que forma las dinámicas preexistentes de relación con el agua y las escorrentías serranas fueron un límite entre los valles serranos y la pujante economía agroganadera pampeana. Se utilizaron fuentes historiográficas tradicionales -informes, relatos, periódicos, entre otros – junto a cartografía histórica y software SIG. Este último, permitió echar nueva luz sobre algunos elementos previamente ignorados en torno al sistema hidrosocial y de transporte en la provincia mediterránea.
- PublicationOpen AccessEl impacto de la política interior de Cartago y la falta de aprendizaje de conflictos anteriores en la Segunda Guerra Púnica(Universidad de Murcia, CEPOAT, 2023) Ferra Jódar, GuillermoEn este trabajo se tratará de poner el foco de atención en como la política interior de Cartago en la segunda mitad del siglo III a.C. condicionó el desarrollo de las operaciones militares de la Segunda Guerra Púnica, especialmente la escasez de envío de refuerzos a Aníbal en Italia y los problemas de descoordinación en el escenario de la península ibérica y Sicilia, poniendo en relación todo lo anterior con la falta de aprendizaje de Cartago en sus conflictos militares anteriores, cometiendo una y otra vez los mismos errores.
- PublicationOpen AccessLegal frameworks for media literacyGrandío, María del Mar; Dilli, Sirin; O’Neill, Brian; ComunicaciónOur focus in this chapter is on the legal expression of media literacy with particular reference to the ethical and social challenges faced by citizens in the media and information society. Drawing on the relevant literature in the field, our objective here is to develop greater theoretical specificity through the analysis of concepts and relationships mapped against the actual data from the Translit project. Close reading of country reports produced in the course of the Translit enables us to generate questions, to extend the literature on legal frameworks for MIL and policy and to assess how it applies to varied situations across Europe. In this chapter, we summarise and synthesize the landscape of legal frameworks for MIL. Following a review of all 28 European country reports from the Translit project, the aim is to better understand the extent to which different cultures and institutions within Europe participate within the MIL process. Our premise is that the policy debate around media and information literacy has been transformed since the 1990s. Tectonic shifts in the technical, economic, and policy domains have brought us to a new media landscape.
- PublicationOpen AccessPanorama político concejil de la Vega Alta del Segura y la múltiple funcionalidad de la Casa Consistorial de Abarán (1600-1800).(2018) Trigueros Molina, Juan CarlosEl presente artículo presenta un análisis general acerca del contexto político y administrativo de los concejos locales de Cieza, Abarán y Blanca (Vega Alta del Segura, Región de Murcia) durante la Edad Moderna y sus respectivas competencias y evoluciones. Este contenido se encuentra acompañado por dos planos de la casa consistorial de Abarán, reflejando las diferentes funcionalidades que acoge este edificio civil, e interrelacionando conceptos paralelos a las capacidades de aprovisionamiento, las operaciones de intervenciones y las evoluciones estructurales corporativas de los citados concejos locales. Para ello ha sido esencial la utilización de documentación histórica proveniente de los Archivos Municipales de las citadas villas y del Archivo General de Murcia.
