This work takes place in the general lines of the approaches on the academic study defended by Marton and Säljö (1976a, b), Entwistle and Ramsden (1983) or Biggs (1978, 1979, 1987a). Following Biggs (1987) offers we investigate in the trend of the university students towards a learning approach, to see if proper forms exist attending to two variables: cultural model and model of teaching-evaluation. We obtain two fundamental conclusions: it appears that the cultural model is determining the process of teaching-learning; and, it exist a relation between the model of teaching-evaluation and the approach adopted by the student.

Competence is an essential element in innovative educational models in the European area, and a basic framework for teaching, yet also a controversial issue for those who believe that teaching students should go beyond competence acquisition. General and specific competences are necessary in continuous education models focused on life-long learning. This paper presents a developmental study on the acquisition of professional competences by Psychopedagogy students during a period of three years. It shows that the model, methods, and competence assessment have consolidated, thus reflecting how these may be mastered when they are integrated into life projects and professional practice.
