Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Raffo Quintana, Federico; Sin departamento asociadothis paper analyzes the Leibnizian conception about the object of mathematics in the period that goes from 1677 to 1686. The goal is to argue for the hypothesis that Leibniz would have held a “predicative” view of mathematics. In order to do this, (1) I first analyze the conception of mathematics as the science of “imaginable things”; (2) I then argue that mathematical objects are concrete notions, and, amongst them, (3) incomplete notions that are predicated, as attributes of things, of complete notions or notions that are taken as if they were complete.
- PublicationOpen AccessTechnology Integration Actions in Mathematics teaching in Brazilian Basic Education: Stimulating STEM disciplines(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2017) Cadorin Nicolete, Priscila; Sommer Bilessimo, Simone Meister; Silva Cristiano, Marta Adriana da; Schardosim Simao, José Pedro; Silva, Juarez Bento daMathematics is a fundamental skill in many aspects of a student’s life. Most students everywhere, and in this study in Brazil, sometimes lack motivation to thrive in such subjects. The work presented in this paper aims to contribute to the development of a multiplatform teaching and learning application through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in order to encourage the study of mathematics from the first years of basic education. The activities are divided into two areas: training teachers and how to integrate technology in the classroom through the use of mobile learning. The experience was conducted with children from the 5th grade, teaching them fractions and mathematics concepts all as part of a research project called "Technology Integration Proposal in Teaching STEM Disciplines in Public Basic Education", supported by CNPq – the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development, and the project "Use of Remote Experimentation on Mobile Devices for Basic Education in Public Schools" supported by FRIDA (Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean). In 2011, this project was selected as one of the most innovative research projects in Brazilian education by the Institute for Development and Educational Innovation (IDIE) of the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) and sponsored by Fundación Telefónica
