    Entre la exigencia de la verdad y la intrínseca subjetividad: La isla de Mallorca en la prensa francesa de finales del siglo XIX

    From 1870, the travel report triumphs in the daily press, and as a conse- quence, a new figure appears, the correspondent or travel reporter. Contrary to the style of romantic travel writing, the travel report aims to exclude the "feelings that pass " as written by Edouard Conte, to only tell the actual truth with all possible objectivity. His writing being daily, the journalist tries to give a sensation of truth that cannot always hide his subjective point of view. From the study of the writing of four French journalists from the daily newspaper or specialized magazine, who visited Mallorca from 1887 to 1894, Frederic Donnadieu, Jules Hippolyte, Andre Hallays and Edouard Conte, we analyze how their gaze on the island oscillates between the demands of the truth and the inherent necessity of subjectivity.

    Magaluf: ante un lugar turístico disruptivo

    In this research we have focused on the case of the tourist destination of Magaluf in Mallorca. From the perspective of the anthropology of tourism, we have reviewed the nume-rous and varied antecedents from a critical perspective, established on the definition of dis-ruptive place, to deepen in second place, in the significance from the experiences of tourists in that journey of escape. Finally, we have concluded on the value of these places to open gaps, on destinations as unique places

    Nuevos datos sobre la composición y abundancia del zooplanctón de la bahía de Palma de Mallorca (Islas Baleares). 1983-84

    Se da la composición cualitativa y cuantitativa de los grandes grupos del zooplancton de una estación de muestreo en la Bahía de Palma de Mallorca, desde los 30 m de profundidad a la superficie, durante 24 horas consecutivas, una muestra a cada hora, en marzo, junio y septiembre de 1983 y en enero de 1984. Se analizan las abundancias obtenidas de los diferentes grupos taxonómicos y se comparan con datos de la bibliografía anterior.

    Organochlorine residues in muscle of European eels (Anguilla anguilla) from four Spanish Mediterranean wetlands and coastal lagoons

    European eels (Anguilla anguilla) are an endangered species throughout their range, and chlorine organic com pounds are some of the most important pollutants for marine species. Data on contaminants in eel stocks remain incomplete, so organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in muscle of European eels from four Spanish Mediterranean ecosystems were analyzed. COPs are presents in eels from all areas, but some compounds are not detected: HCH α, β and γ (lindane), endosulfan sulfate, heptachlor, and PCBs 28, 52 and 180. The high percentage of DDT 2,4′ in eels from S'Albufera des Grau Natural Park, an ecosystem with good ecological status according to the Water Framework Directive, and the presence of PCBs in S'Albufereta Natural Reserve indicate the need to carry out further studies in the future. The results obtained can improve the management of this species in the studied areas.

    Understanding the competitiveness of a cycling tourism destination from stakeholders’ perspective: an exploratory study from Mallorca, Spain

    El cicloturismo, en todo el mundo, está en constante auge. El aumento de la demanda ha ido acompañado de un crecimiento de la oferta, lo que ha provocado una mayor competencia entre los destinos. Aunque hay numerosos estudios que avalan el hecho que la competitividad es importante para que un destino turístico obtenga una posición favorable en el mercado turístico mundial y mantenga así su ventaja competitiva, pocos trabajos han analizado la competitividad de los destinos orientados al cicloturismo. Esta investigación realiza un estudio exploratorio de cómo los actores entienden la competitividad de los destinos de cicloturismo. El objetivo es identificar y explicar qué factores hacen que un destino cicloturista sea más competitivo y qué se puede hacer para conseguir una ventaja competitiva
