    La construcción de inferencias en la comprensión lectora: una investigación correlacional

    El objetivo del estudio consiste en identificar, a partir de una prueba de comprensión lectora off-line de dos tipos textuales, si existe correlación entre aprobar una materia de lectura (en español como lengua materna) en escolaridad superior (licenciatura) y una mejoría en la comprensión lectora respecto al nivel previo a la asignatura. El instrumento fue pilotado hasta llegar a su versión final, donde el texto técnico exige inferencias proposicionales y el texto humanístico requiere inferencias pragmáticas. El análisis de los resultados se realizó en dos fases: primero, se evaluó el nivel de comprensión lectora derivado de cada uno de los textos por separado y después fueron comparados ambos estratos para saber si los alumnos que aprobaron la asignatura tienen en realidad un nivel de comprensión más alto que quienes no la cursaron. La discusión reveló que no existe correlación entre el desempeño en la prueba técnica y el desempeño en la prueba humanística. Tampoco existe correlación entre aprobar la asignatura y el nivel de comprensión lectora, ni de un texto técnico ni de uno inferencial; de hecho, el nivel de comprensión lectora no presenta mejorías significativas. En conclusión, esto implica que, tras cursar una materia de comprensión lectora, los estudiantes siguen siendo incapaces de realizar las operaciones mentales necesarias para llegar hasta el nivel de representación que el tipo de texto exige tanto en el nivel proposicional como en el pragmático.

    La generación de inferencias dentro de un contexto social. Un análisis de la comprensión lectora a través de protocolos verbales y una tarea de resumen oral

    In recent years, the study of inferences has become so relevant that now is considered the core of the comprehension and interpretation of reality and, therefore, one of the cornerstones of human cognition. Given its importance in understanding processes, studies were initially focused on learning more about how they occur and what their features are, providing various taxonomies that address the number and type of inferences that take place in everyday situations. There are not, however, previous studies that analize other triggers to make inferences such as specific aims within a social context, or analyzed under the influence of a sociocultural theory. This work has three aims: analyzing the extent to which different inferential patterns are generated when the aim of the reading is telling a peer (symmetrical) or a child (asymmetric); to examine whether the type of text (narrative or expository) influences inference activation; and, thirdly, to assess whether this possible effect of reading aims (symmetrical and asymmetrical) occurs similarly on both types of tasks: using a verbal protocol and an oral summary task. Ten university students conformed the sample of this study and had to read two texts (one narrative and one expository). The results pointed out that when reading has a social and communicative purpose, as it is to have the reader explain the content of the text to an eight year old boy , there are more explanatory inferences, an accommodation with immediate language use, a greater number of paraphrases, as well as an addition of new ideas when they are asked to summarize the text. These results shed light on a subject that had never been previously researched: how communicative reading aims may have effects on the amount and type of inferences made during reading. Moreover, our purpose is also to show how certain educational implications arise from our study.

    Inferencias y disfuncionalidades de la relación paisaje, patrimonio y turismo

    Como objetivo principal se plantea el estudio de diferentes concepciones, surgidas a lo largo del tiempo y por autores diversos, sobre paisaje, patrimonio y turismo. Además, se aborda el análisis de cómo se han interpretado sus relaciones qué efectos ha producido la presencia humana en el territorio y cómo se realiza el aprovechamiento del paisaje y del patrimonio por parte de la actividad turística, sus consecuencias y posibles disfuncionalidades. Con el fin de conseguir dichos objetivos, se recurrió a métodos y procedimientos de análisis diversos, como la revisión bibliográfica y la reflexión, aplicando para ello una metodología de carácter cualitativo mediante la estrategia denominada “no interactiva analítica documental”.

    Provocative insinuations

    In this paper we analyse utterances that, without explicitly constituting hate speech, nevertheless convey a hateful message. For exam-ple, in the headline “Iraqi Refugee is convicted in Germany of raping and murdering teenage girl”, the presence of “Iraqi refugee” does not seem arbitrary. To the contrary, it is responsible for inviting a racist inference against Iraqi refu-gees. We defend that these inferences cannot be described as slurs, ethnic or social terms used as insults, dogwhistles or conversational implicatu-res. Rather, we propose that these inferences are insinuations, specifically provocative insinua-tions, as no conversational response seems effec-tive at blocking them
