Analysis of teaching skills in swimming and gymnastics in faculties of physical education
(Universidad de Murcia, Servicio de Publicaciones, 2024) Jaber Hussein, Abdelsalam; Al-Shawabka, Loay Mohammad; Jamal Aloran, Hasan; Al Hammouri, Walid; Al Sharksi, Rama Mohammad; Thseen Alaskar, Waleed; Mahmoud Al-Hawari, Mohammad
The present study aimed to assess the extent to which faculty members apply effective teaching skills in swimming and gymnastics courses from the perspective of students in physical education faculties. Utilizing a descriptive method, the study involved a randomly selected sample of 195 students from the University of Jordan, Hashemite University, and Yarmouk University during the 2021/2022 academic year. A questionnaire was designed to evaluate effective teaching skills, focusing on the teacher's management of teaching principles, the use of educational aids, and evaluation. Data analysis using SPSS (version 28)revealed that faculty members demonstrated a high level of application of effective teaching skills in both courses, with arithmetic means of 4.35 for swimming and 4.27 for gymnastics. No statistically significant differences were observed in the application of these skills based on gender, university, or course (p > 0.05). The researchers recommend providing faculty members with necessary resources and facilities to enhance the educational process and ensure it meets the highest standards.

Effectiveness of culture-based game exercises on cognitive function in older adults participating in gymnastics
(Servicio de Publicaciones. Universidad de Murcia, 2025) Waluyo, Sumarni Djoko; Kushartanti, Bernadetta Maria Wara; Sutarni, Sri; Padli; Sudibjo, Prijo; Sin departamento asociado
The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of culture-based game exercise training on the cognitive function of older adults. This study was a quasi-experimental research with a pre-test and post-test control design. The research subjects were 40 elderly individuals who are members of the Teratai elderly gymnastics group in the Nogotirto Gamping housing area, Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research instruments included the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to measure cognitive function, along with video recordings of physical exercise activities, recordings of culture-based game songs, and exercise props. After being given the intervention of culture-based game exercise training in the intervention group (IG), there was a significant improvement in cognitive function scores from pre-test to post-test (MMSE score: Fh;df=19; α=3.622; p=.003 < .05), and there was a significant difference in the change in MMSE scores between the intervention group (IG) and the control group (CG) (Fh;df=19; α=0.280; p = .004 < .05) with a large effect size (d=2.363). In the control group (CG), which engaged in daily activities such as singing culture-based game songs, cognitive function also improved, but the change was not statistically significant (p>.05). In conclusion, culture-based game exercise is effective in improving cognitive function in older adults.

The importance of understanding kinesiology for gymnastics: A biomechanist's perspective
(Universidad de Murcia: servicio de publicaciones, 2024) Al-Jaafre, Omar Jamil; Qawaqzeh, Saleh Salem Ali
Kinesiology has progressed to become one of the most dynamic disciplines for studying and scrutinizing the various aspects of human bodily movement from a scientific perspective. The field has expanded into major areas of sports such as athletics, martial arts, gymnastics, and more. This study aimed to delve deeper into this subject and explore the importance of understanding kinesiology in gymnastics, as it provides a comprehensive context for studying such aspects. The primary goal was to assess the opinions of biomechanists to gain insight into the underlying factors. The study employed a quantitative design, using an original research approach to report findings on the current subject. A total of 36 biomechanists (29 malesand 7 females) participated in this study, and data were collected using a questionnaire. The questionnaireincluded demographic questions and 24 statements. These statements were developed based on extensive evaluations of kinesiology features and their associations or implications for gymnastics. The study outcomes revealed that, over time, gymnasts are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of having a solid understanding of kinesiology for analyzing human body movement patterns. They are optimistically applying this knowledge to optimize their training routines, use their energy and skills more efficiently, and ensure better performance and faster recovery from physical injuries when faced with such challenges
