    Barriers Perceived by Managers and Clinical Professionals Related to the Implementation of Clinical Practice Guidelines for Breastfeeding through the Best Practice Spotlight Organization Program

    : International institutions facilitate the contact of health professionals to evidence-based recommendations for promoting exclusive breast feeding (BF). However, the achievement of good rates of exclusive BF is still far from the optimum. The intention of the present work is to determine the barriers identified by managers and health professionals involved in the implementation and sustainability of Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG) for breastfeeding under the auspices of the Best Practice Spotlight Organization program. A qualitative research study was carried out. The participants were managers, healthcare assistants, nurses, midwives, pediatricians and gynecologists. Semi-structured interviews were conducted which were transcribed and analyzed using the six steps of thematic analysis. Twenty interviews were conducted, which defined four major themes: (1) Lack of resources and their adaptation; (2) Where, Who and How; (3) Dissemination and reach of the project to the professionals; and (4) The mother and her surroundings. This research identifies the barriers perceived by the health professionals involved in the implementation, with the addition of the managers as well. Novel barriers appeared such as the ambivalent role of the midwives and the fact that this CPG is about promoting health. The efforts for promoting the implementation program should be continuous, and the services should be extended to primary care.

    Estrategias para garantizar la seguridad del paciente crítico

    Objetivo: Identificar las estrategias para garantizar la seguridad del paciente crítico. Método: Revisión integradora, cuya búsqueda fue realizada en mayo del 2022 haciendo uso de las fuentes de datos: MEDLINE, SciELO, WOS, LILACS, Scopus e IBECS. El análisis y síntesis se construyó a partir de los resultados encontrados, buscando agruparlos por categorías en función de la similitud de contenido. Resultados: Se encontraron 377 artículos, luego se procedió a aplicar los criterios de inclusión y la lectura exhaustiva, resultando una muestra de 13 artículos. Los resultados fueron clasificados en cinco categorías: Prevención de la neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica; Seguridad en la administración y gestión de medicamentos; Prevención de las lesiones por presión; Programa educativo orientado a la seguridad del paciente en cuidados intensivos, y Reflexiones del equipo de salud con respecto a cultura de seguridad. Conclusiones: Este estudio contribuye a identificar de forma integral las diversas estrategias cuyos resultados demostraron un cambio positivo en la prevención de eventos adversos y el fortalecimiento en la seguridad en la atención sanitaria.

    ABSTRACT: Schistosomiasis is a highly prevalent disease, especially in immigrant populations, and is associated with significant morbidity and diagnostic delays outside endemic areas. For these reasons, the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (SEIMC) and the Spanish Society of Tropical Medicine and International Health (SEMTSI) have developed a joint consensus document to serve as a guide for the screening, diagnosis and treatment of this disease outside endemic areas. A panel of experts from both societies identified the main questions to be answered and developed recommendations based on the scientific evidence available at the time. The document was reviewed by the members from both societies for final approval.
